Gastronomic Tour with Victoria Parkhomenko

Victoria Parkhomenko is a famous Ukrainian gastronomy expert. She helps others open the restaurants and develops the new concepts. Victoria also created menu for numerous Asian restaurants in Ukraine as well as for “Pache”, “Inzhener” (Engineer), Best catering Event, “Eat Easy”, “Belveder” in Kyiv and “Zlachnoie” in Odessa.
In 2009 she launched such highly popular projects as “GastroSreda” and “Gastronomic Tours”. Since 2010 she has been running her own agency “Gastronomic Consulting” where she organizes workshops and holds classes for professional chefs all over Ukraine and Bangkok.
Moreover, she is a gastronomy expert in Metro Cash & Carry (2011) and a presenter on the Coca-Cola vlog “Gourmand” (2012). In 2014 Victoria opened her own restaurant “KLUKVA I BRUKVA” (Cranberries and Turnips) which serves modern Slavic cuisine.
You will arrive in Kyiv in the morning. The group will be met by a guide and then transferred to the hotel “Vozdvizhenskiy” to check in. The guide will be speaking through the cultural and historical features of Ukrainian capital. Boutique Hotel "Vozdvizhenskiy" - is one of the most elegant and conceptual places in the capital. This is a perfect choice for the sophisticated cosmopolitan traveler. Located just a few steps from the famous St. Andrew's descent, which is often called the Montmartre of Kyiv, the hotel is known for its traditional hospitality and unique interiors. At the hotel entrance the group will be welcomed with a glass of champagne.
After the meeting in the lobby you will go down by Andrew's Descent through the Kontraktova Square. You will stop for the lunch at the Black Sea cuisine restaurant - "Barkas". Delicious Goatfish, Black Sea mussels, meat specialties and local wines will be served there. The chef of the restaurant will introduce you to this specific cuisine and will talk about the gastronomy traditions of southern Ukraine.
After the lunch a guided bus sightseeing tour through the city is offered. You will see the main touristic sights of the city and will stop in the cozy coffee shops. After the sightseeing everyone will have time to rest in the hotel before the evening program.
At 20.00 the evening program will start. Your starting point will be a fun-bar "Banka"(The Jar) where you will try fancy cocktails from the best bartender of this restaurant network. Afterwards you will walk to Victoria Parkhomenko’s Ukrainian style restaurant - "KLUKVA I BRUKVA". Here you will discover modern Ukrainian cuisine in a new way. Victoria will tell you about the restaurant and she will hold a brief presentation into traditional Ukrainian cuisine and about the gastronomic differences of different regions of Ukraine. You will try the dishes right off the oven. No doubt that here you will get a real gastronomic delight and enjoyment!
After dinner, you will be able to have a walk down the main street of Kyiv - Khreshchatyk or to have a rest at the hotel before the next gastronomic adventure.
You will enjoy the atmosphere of the most picturesque and authentic neighborhood in Kyiv while cooking the light breakfast with Victoria on the sunny terrace of the hotel.
After the breakfast, you will go to the “Zhitniy”(Rye) Market with a guide, who will tell you about the "Podol" (historical district of Kyiv), Andrew's descent, and about the market itself.
*Zhitniy Market is the oldest market from the still existing market places in Kyiv. It is located in the Podol district. It was established in the times of the Kyivan Rus. The Glubochitsa river used to divide the Square of the Zhitniy Market into two parts. In the first half of the XII century, the Square was rounded by the temples which were sponsored by the trade and craft associations, in particular this is true about the Church of the Virgin Pirogoschy (Kyiv-Podolsky Cathedral of the Assumption). In the XV century the Zhitniy Market was the main shopping center in the city. The grand trade fair was held here twice a year. Many centuries it was one of the main shopping centers, mostly due to the proximity to the Dnipro River and the Harbor. While walking through the market’s trading area you will have a chat with the charismatic salesmen and will taste the lard and fruit liquors. There the group will buy all the necessary products for the master class that will be conducted for you by Victoria afterwards.
Afterwards you will walk to “Mozhzhevelnik” (Juniper) bar for a glass of local cocktail. From that point a comfortable bus will take you to the restaurant for the modern Ukrainian cuisine master class! You will cook together with Victoria in the “KLUKVA I BRUKVA” restaurant! Afterwards you will eat a dinner and have a wine tasting session.
In the afternoon you will walk around the center of Kyiv and will have a cup of aromatic coffee on the street and will stop by Jan Monastyrski for the Gourmet - Hot Dog in the "Bistro Bistro". Jan will tell you his story of success, while you will be treated with his famous hot dogs, soft drinks and smoothies.
After that you will find yourself moving towards the Maidan, where the guide will tell the recent story of our country. This eventful year was a transitional period of self-determination of Ukraine.
Here you will stop at the small pub for the traditional aperitif; you will go to “Arbekina” where you will meet the owner of the place – Clara, the charming lady from Odessa city.
In the evening you will have a grand dinner at the St. Sophia Cathedral. This traditional dinner will be the grand finale of your introduction to the culinary traditions of this ancient and mysterious land.
After the dinner, you will have a pleasant nigh walk in Kyiv up to the Hotel.
Urban gastronomic open air festival.
More than 60 restaurants, street food spots, gastronomic workshops, culinary schools, a large farmer's market, local cookbooks, contests, music, dj sets, stand up show and entertainment will take place on this festival.
The festival will unite the best restaurants and cafes of the city, as well as the bold and out of standard formats of the street food. For the first time in Kyiv you will see a grand Farmer's Market with regional food manufacturers and beverages all in one place.
You will spend half a day there talking to restaurateurs, chefs and gastronomic celebrities; you will also try a range of new specialties and will have a chance to participate in various master classes.
After lunch you will have free time to enjoy the city, visit museums and do some shopping.
