Security News

06/07/2015

About 1,500 Ukrainian pro-government fighters and far-right supporters have marched through the centre of the capital on the 3rd of July 2015.

Demostrators called on the government to end the Minsk ceasefire accord and declare war on pro-Russian rebels in the east.

There weren’t any confrontations during the protests and police presence was low. The protesters gathered at the places where clashes between Maidan activists and security forces took place last year to pay tribute to the activists who died in those clashes. Protesters gathered near Dynamo Stadium set more than 20 tires alight in commemoration of the last year’s Maidan’s events.

Due to the May holidays, Kyiv may get a bit overcrowded these days. Please be aware of crowds and some lines in the central part of the city. The annual military parade devoted to the Victory Day (9th of May) have been cancelled this year and all celebrations (devoted to the Victory Day) will take place near the museum of Great World War. In fact most of the commemorating events will be held on the 8th of May.

With reference to all abovementioned, Ukrainians authorities have agreed to increase security measures during May holidays to ensure the safety and peace in the capital of Ukraine.

Please be advised, that all tourist attractions will be accessible on regular basis and no heavy traffic is predicted on these dates.
